There was something special in the air at the Fairgrounds Cloverdale Racket Club—not just the sound of paddles popping and sneakers squeaking, but a real sense of community.
The courts were packed and the energy high as 100 teams hit the ground swinging for the Paddles for Progress charity pickleball tournament in support of CAMH (Centre for Addiction and Mental Health).
With over 400 people in attendance, including players, families, friends, and fans, the day felt more like a festival than a tournament. Local vendors, tasty food, upbeat music, and of course, some friendly pickleball rivalries made it a Saturday to remember.
Between matches, attendees browsed booths, grabbed refreshments, and gathered for our on-site raffle, which featured a wide variety of incredible prizes—everything from gift cards and gear to local experiences, all donated by our amazing 80+ sponsors and donors. It was a hit with everyone, adding an extra layer of excitement to an already buzzing day.
A major highlight? The pro exhibition match featuring pickleball pros Tara Di Giuseppe (Southwestern Ontario Brewers), Kyle Hermetz (Southwestern Ontario Brewers), Sneha Iyer (Toronto United PC), and Jonas Daehler (Detroit-Windsor Drive) showing off their skills in a thrilling game that had the crowd cheering and inspired more than a few players to up their game. And just when we thought the day couldn’t get more meaningful, Ben Fanelli, founder of Heroic Minds, took the mic and shared his powerful story about mental resilience and purpose—leaving everyone feeling grounded and inspired.

Once the paddles were down, the fun continued at our after-party social at The Porch, where players and supporters came together to toast the day’s wins (on and off the court), swap stories, and enjoy a well-earned evening of good food, drinks, and connection.
Thanks to the incredible support of our community, we raised over $70,000 for CAMH—Canada’s leading mental health hospital and research centre. Every dollar goes toward advancing care, education, and research in mental health, and every conversation started today helps break the stigma.
We’re so grateful to everyone who came out, played hard, cheered louder, donated generously, and made this event what it was: a vibrant, heartfelt celebration of community and cause.
Already counting down the days until next year.
