We would not be who we are without the Board of Directors Co-Chairs, who are at the core of our strategy. They are constantly working to improve our organization and work closely with the Centre of Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). For the 2024-2026 term, Mark Goad and Meran Glass are leading the charge for mental health advocacy.
Mark Goad

Today’s CAMH Engage profile feature is Mark Goad the GM of Alan, the first new health insurance carrier in Canada since 1957.
We asked Mark to share why he chose to get involved with CAMH Engage and his thoughts on young professionals making an impact on mental health awareness:
“I’ve been involved with CAMH for the past 5 years because I’ve seen & felt the effects of untreated or unacknowledged mental health & addictions cases in our communities and wanted to contribute to positive change.
CAMH Engage offered an amazing platform to make a difference on key challenges I see in our communities. The team is small but works on super-high impact initiatives and has a very high talent density. I have the privilege of working with some of the most successful rising executives in Toronto - who work across tech, consulting, finance, law and more. The pace and output of the team is incredible.”
What do you do to ensure you are taking care of your mental health?
“In my mid-twenties, ‘taking care of my mental health’ meant very specific activities like going to therapy. Today, I think about it more holistically - spending focused & intentional time with family & friends; plenty of exercise, eating well; taking time to decompress via reading/or and Othership class; being creative with photography and spending time in my community (local run clubs & tech events).”
We are thankful to Mark for being a part of CAMH Engage community and for being a force of positive change in mental health.

Meran Glass

Ahead of the CAMH Engage Gala on November 8th, this week we are excited to highlight Meran Glass, CPA, a mental health advocate, Senior Capital Advisor at Mercury, and co-chair of the CAMH Engage team.
We asked Meran why she chose to get involved with CAMH Engage and her thoughts on young professionals making an impact on mental health awareness:
“I chose to join CAMH Engage because it offers a unique way for young professionals to make a difference in mental health advocacy. I’ve had the chance to work alongside ambitious peers who share the same passion for driving change. Our group is not only focused on raising funds and awareness for CAMH, but also to empower the next generation of donors and leaders for CAMH Foundation.
Young professionals can play a role in driving mental health awareness by getting involved in whatever capacity fits their lives. Whether it's attending events to learn more, volunteering with organizations like CAMH Engage, or simply having open conversations about mental health. Every action helps shift the dialogue and reduce stigma.
On asking how she takes care of her mental health, Meran says: “For me, taking care of my mental health is about finding balance (though that’s easier said than done). I try to make exercise a regular part of my routine, whether it’s a group fitness class or getting out on my bike, to clear my mind.”
We appreciate Meran’s ongoing support with CAMH Engage to drive social change through mental health education and fundraising for CAMH.
